Parkour is one of my absolute favorite things to see and do. Not only is it fun, but because of the many attributes of sport you have to do is incredibly difficult. Among the many features of sport you need to be involved include balance, speed, strength , flexibility, endurance and most relevant to you , a great jump power .

What is Parkour ?

If you do not know what is ultra quick summary of the good people of Wikipedia
? Parkour ( sometimes abbreviated PK ) or the art of moving (English : the art of movement ) is an activity in order to move from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible mainly using capabilities of the human body. Its aim is to help overcome obstacles that may be something in the environment ? ? Branches and stones on the rails and concrete walls ? And you can practice in both rural and urban areas. Parkour practitioners are referred to as markers or tracers for women. "

Although this introduction is fine, does not really do justice to the amazing show at all , so with the permission of the Parkour Generations team I have attached a short video. I recommend that you take a few minutes to review some of these movements frankly are awesome.

Seeing some of the plotters experienced remarkable things can be done, should be no surprise that these guys (and girls) do not just wake up one day with the ability to perform various jumps, jumping, and climbing , etc as well as athletes who try to improve your vertical jump, tracers have to work before they become the owners of the different movements.
In this spirit , I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at the experienced tracers training schemes and see what lessons can be learned and applied more specifically to improving your vertical leap .

Safety first , middle and last name

An activity such as parkour not last long or as popular as it is if its members were constantly getting hurt (or worse !) . Although undoubtedly there is some risk to it, especially the activities most glorified as the execution of the roof, the reality is that most are closer to the ground , and risk activities are carried out only after many hours of practice.
Professional Parkour always preach safety as the number one priority . Make strong recommendations on the revision of the surfaces is trained to ensure structural integrity, and be very careful when wet. They also make sure that you are aware of your own limits and if you are not 100 % sure you can complete the move , and do not try .

This course is also very relevant for vertical jump training . While most of the exercises are very simple, there are a few , such as altitude and depth jumps which should definitely start small before continuing upwards.

So many athletes who choose to work on developing your vertical leap are not familiar with weight training . While a 1.5? 2.0 x body weight squat is definitely something that will help you more likely to jump, you have to walk before you run. Whenever you start weight training , it is important to learn how to properly perform the lift before you start adding weight.

It's much better ( and safer) to learn how to conduct a proper lift from the beginning, so try and correct technique later, after developing bad habits.

Practice , practice, practice

The focus of the tracers general education is , above all , the best way to improve is to practice parkour parkour do. If you have an identifiable weakness, relative strength , flexibility, balance or whatever , then you could do specific exercises to develop these traits , but mostly it just gets better the best guarantee to do so.
This philosophy is something that athletes vertical jump should consider. All fancy dive programs in the world will not change the fact that the best vertical jump exercises that you can do is go out and try to jump high. Too many people think they have to be a complex program to improve . This is often not the case.

I'm amazed at some of the emails I get from people concerned in doing certain exercises to develop knee flexion , which is the best way to improve ankle stability , slots are better than dumbbells dumbbell lunges , etc. , and when I asked how much effort they make maximum jump , often they are not for others. It's scary .

Most young athletes could save a lot of money and just go out and do some good jumping utmost age. Then you rest. After sitting recovered enough to go a little jump. When you stop improving , then, and only then, you might consider a structured weight to begin developing their strength and weaknesses other program. Many athletes start thinking about special programs before they need to.

display

With so many different moves you can perform one of the most powerful weapons in the arsenal training tracer is visualization. Visualization is a topic I've written before, but to summarize , it essentially makes you mentally imagine successfully complete all trying to do. You'd be surprised the amount of times your mind can see your body can do.
In the display of parkour imagine could lead to a successful implementation through a particularly difficult, or simply filling a large wall jumping cat . In the vertical jump training , it could eventually be a slam dunk basketball ring or teeth flying volleyball breaking peak . The more you repeat in your mind, the easier it is to actually do it when the time comes.

conclusion

Parkour is fun and can be done anywhere, and to some extent , by anyone. It is physically very liberating and exhilarating. The most advanced tracer has an amazing mix of natural talent some of the most obvious of which is the agility and jumping ability .
Athletes looking to improve their vertical jump could do a lot worse than watch and learn from this amazing activity and its talented participants . Keep the process simple , progressive development , and focused on the end goal of being best in parkour . In fact, it is very good advice .
